Sitting Pretty

A piece I did for my mom for one of her christmas presents. My parents were so hard to shop for for, especially my dad, but my mom has been bugging for a while to do some art of her. I decided to do one for her favorite breeds of wild bird. She is the one that has sparked my love for birds and its something we have shared since I was little. Its always a exciting when one of us finds a different species when we are out bird watching. I am 'expected' to do a mirror one of this one, but in female form sometime in the year. She'll get that around Febuary. This was a bit challenging, I never knew that it would take five shades of different reds to make it somewhat realistic. I want to do something like this for my apartment, but with blue herons or pelicans. I really need to pick a style, I'm flip flopping from cartoony to realistic all the time.
